The recently formed Sydney Area Residents Association carried out its first community litter pick this morning on Sydney Estate, with equipment kindly loaned by Crewe Clean Team.

Two teams started off collecting from Lansdowne Park and Hungerford Park and spent a good couple of hours filling rubbish bags from the areas surrounding the play parks, neighbouring alleyways / pavements, and green spaces, finally finishing up by the Coleridge Way shops / Flying Lady pub.

12 bags of rubbish were collected by the helpers with many bits of general litter, plastic and cans removed from paths, grass and streets for safe disposal and recycling.

The Residents Association has been set up in order to make the whole area a nicer place to live and benefit the community enjoyment of the open green spaces, play parks, estate facilities, encouraging wildlife, natural features, and helping to improve the area in general. A discussion was held after the litter pick to discuss the setting up a community orchard in some of the estate areas to be enjoyed by everyone in the community and progress on ideas discussed at the last Residents meeting.
